Cocobay Resort is located on a hillside in the beautiful Ffreyes Bay, and is the perfect place to unwind, because the emphasis is on peace and tranquility.

There are a lot of resorts in Antigua that you could choose for your Antigua Holiday, but there is only one Cocobay Resort, and it probably isn't for everyone, but it could be the place for you, writes Gareth Jones.

If size is important to you, then you should know that Cocobay has 53 rooms, each of which is a privately positioned wooden Caribbean style cottage with a large balcony and quite superb views of the turquoise sea. It is definitely an all inclusive Antigua resort, and children are only accepted for two weeks at Christmas. This makes it very much a place for an Antigua honeymoon, and indeed Cocobay specializes in Caribbean honeymoon packages, and prides itself on being one of the more romantic destinations in the whole Caribbean.

Cocobay Resort is located on a hillside in the beautiful Ffreyes Bay, and is the perfect place to unwind, because the emphasis is on peace and tranquility with privacy being especially important. Cocobay has all the features you would expect from a quality resort in Antigua, and unusually for an all inclusive resort it has two full service restaurants. There are two bars, a Wellness cottage for massage and beauty treatments, and a fresh water horizon swimming pool. The water sports include Kayaks, Hobie Cats, Snorkeling, and Sunfish sailing. Unsurprisingly as it is the ideal honeymoon destination, they will also host weddings and renewals of vows.

One great feature of Cocobay resort is the lack of TV in the rooms, so you do escape from modern life, although there is a public lounge with cable TV for the addicts!! There really isn't a lot to do at Cocobay Resort because it really does encourage you to do nothing but relax, although if you wish there are guided local walks, and for the really energetic Tennis and Golf are but a short drive away at the Jolly Harbour Complex where you will find casinos, restaurants and bars if you just have to continue to live life on your vacation at a hectic pace!

There are some things you need to know before booking Cocobay resort, and the first is that as the resort is on a hill it isn't really suitable for the disabled, or those who are a bit unsteady on their feet. This Antigua resort is definitely not for guests who want to party into the night, it is very much for people who want to chill out, relax, read a good book. You should hire a jeep and explore Antigua for three or four of your days here. Cocobay gets an amazing number of repeat guests as you will discover, and there can be no better recommendation, and it is definitely because of the ambiance.

If your tastes run to a commercial faceless hotel with all mod cons, then don't even think about it. You can have a real and perfect Antigua holiday here because it has rustic charm, it is entirely natural, with character and style. The staff are terrific, friendly, and always very eager to please, and the food and drink very good indeed for the price. In conclusion Cocobay resort is the place to go for a peaceful, relaxing, real Antigua style holiday in a beautiful location.

It is both sad and ironic that a people as proud of their African roots as Jamaicans should have imbibed the religious bigotry of their white plantation masters.
