New research from Direct Line for Business has found that 11 million people in the UK dream of transforming one of their hobbies into a business.
53 per cent of workers in full time employment feel it would be a dream come true to leave their current employment and start their own business, this is echoed by two fifths (44%) of those who have already quit their day job to run their own business, who wish they had done it sooner.
Of those who have already started up their own business, a third (32%) would describe it as a successful venture, with 27 per cent stating that they are making good money from the business. Fashion design, buy to let property renovation and online auctions are some of the most successful hobby-based ventures undertaken by budding entrepreneurs, yet without proper planning and research into the market, people are setting themselves up for a fall.
