Calling attention to a host of instances when black women have fought and helped everybody else...Dr. Hare says now is the time for the black woman to help herself.

Dr. Julia Hare, National Executive Director of The Black Think Tank, is calling on "millions of combat divas" in her much anticipated new book, The Sexual and Political Anorexia of the Black Woman.

The author of numerous titles, including the bestseller How to Find and Keep a BMW (Black Man Working) raises an eleventh-hour reveille for all black women ("sistas") in a massive quest for unity aimed to avenge “The Pain Guts and Glory of the Black Woman" (the book's subtitle).

"The Pain Guts and Glory of the Black Woman" took hold when Dr. Hare was speaking at the University of Washington in Seattle, and saw a wall high portrait of a solitary black woman hanging in the black student centre. Beneath it lay the caption "Bearer of Pain," illuminated by slivers of sunlight shining through the window pointing the way to that painting and this book," the author writes.

"Sexual Anorexia" (the loss of interest or appetite for sexual relationships) is a little known malady gripping more and more black women that has segued into "political anorexia" (a crippling apathy in matters affecting the black woman directly). Calling attention to a host of instances when black women have fought and helped everybody else, while there is no black U.S. female senator, Dr. Hare says now is the time for the black woman to help herself.

Witness the recent 'history making' battle royal between a white woman and a black man duking it out for the U.S. presidency, arguing whether a white woman or a black man should be elected first, when a black female candidate would have sufficed to cover them both." Yet it is the black woman who "remains the only woman in America who is not considered a woman" and is "fast becoming the only group left that can end such social whammies as the new slavery and incarceration of the black males."

Thus her book introduces us to a new way of looking at the black male. In "Black Male Carriers of the Virus of Sexual Anorexia (The Way You Do the Things You Do)," she chastises three main categories: "Men Who Play," "Men Who Pimp Their Women," and "Men Who Fear Love ("amoraphobia").
